The Power of Facebook Ad's

Something I’ve been hearing lately that I wanted to touch on...

‘Facebook ads don’t work’

‘Facebook ads don't work for me’

‘I’ve spent a lot of money and it hasn’t worked’

I hear this constantly and I literally couldn’t disagree more with the above statements.

Let’s chat all about Facebook Ads and how you can use them effectively for your business.

Should you advertise on Facebook?

Facebook advertising is SO powerful when it's done properly, a lot of the things that people do that lead them to the above statements, are simply boost posts.

You are definitely not going to get a customer to take the desired action by simply boosting posts by what we call, vanity metrics. Vanity metrics can be described as likes, comments, engagements. If you want to sell products, you need to put together a proper ads strategy that takes your customer through the customer journey, through the marketing funnel, building awareness of your brand, building engagement and interaction, then finally building that action or conversion.

When building an ad campaign, there are many elements that you have to consider, let’s go into some more detail about the main components of advertising on Facebook.

Your ad sets

Your audiences, who are you targeting?

It's not good to simply target the whole of the UK, you need to get REALLY specific. Why would you not use the data that Facebook has to target your ideal audience?

For example, if you are selling an eco product, you wouldn’t target the whole of the UK with all of your ads and spend lots of money on people that are not necessarily going to convert!

Instead, you can go into super-specific detail and target people with interests in eco-living, sustainability, Greta Thunberg, all of these targeting options will give you the ability to get to your product in front of potential customers far cheaper!

I would advise that whenever you run a campaign that you run various ad sets (various audiences) to test and try different targeting options including:

  • lookalike audiences based on the people that have purchased from you already

  • key interests and behaviours that you know that would really work

  • subsections of society that have an interest in the product/service you sell

Recommendations for ad campaigns

When building an ad campaign its important that it:

  • hits all various stages of the funnel.

  • hits various audiences because you don't know what's going to work until you’ve tried it.

Quite often, we are surprised by some curveball targeting that we’ve put in there that really takes off that is different from our regular sets, which highlights the importance of hitting various audiences!

Your Ad Creative

Are you spending money and investing in the content that your audience is seeing in your ads? Your creative when advertising is VITAL because it's not good enough to put rubbish graphic content out there. Your creative in your adverts need to be lifestyle based or something that is going to fit the right customer at the right time of their life and environment.

You need to be creating lots of different types of ads, whether that’s video, stop motion, video, graphics, pitch videos, whatever it may be that fits your product or sector to communicate your product. You want to promote exactly why someone would want to buy your product, by doing so, you will start to collect an enormous amount of really valuable data.

And once you've built that data you can then start to spend really effectively because you're only using ad sets that work and ads that really do convert.
