Search Engines are Everywhere!
SEO = Search Engine Optimisation
But… What is SEO? and What is a Search Engine?
But What is SEO and What is a Search Engine?
Search Engine Optimisation
🔍There are search engines EVERYWHERE just think about it.
I thought becoming an SEO was a new job for me when I started my marketing career.
Prior to this, I had been in sales and business development for Juice
But what I quickly realised was I had actually been doing SEO for a long time.
SEO exists on:
- Amazon
- Ebay
- Etsy
- Retailers Websites
I could go on and on and on. Wherever you see 🔍 SEO exists.
In the early years, I was researching and optimising the titles of the listings we had for mobile phone chargers on Amazon and eBay to ensure they came up at the top, so they were eye-catching and they called out details customers cared about.
I was working with Jolyon (CEO of Juice) to brainstorm ways we could sell our products to retailers.
- New ways we could talk about our products so our customers cared enough to pick them up and buy them.
- Ways we could make our products stand out on shelves full of thousands of other competitors products.
Juice actually taught me a lot about SEO.
Juice is a power brand that uses language real humans use, it talks about charging in ways that consumers talk about it and google it!
INDUSTRY LANGUAGE vs JUICE LANGUAGE
Powerbank vs Portable Charger
15,000 mAh vs 5 Charges for your Phone
3.4amp output vs Fastest Charging Plug
MFI chip cable vs Apple Authorised
NEWSFLASH: 💡CONSUMERS DON'T SEARCH FOR INDUSTRY TERMS!
Consumers search for a solution to their problem in the language they speak!
Consumers don’t know they need a 15,000 milliamp powerbank.
Consumers don’t know what a powerbank is.
Consumers don’t understand milliamps or amps.
Consumers know their phone runs out of battery faster than they would like.
Consumers know they want to solve this problem.
Consumers search for…
🔍 Portable charger extra 5 charges
🔍 Why is my iPhone battery so bad?
🔍 How to charge my phone at a festival?
These searches may lead to them learning about and getting educated on what milliamps or amps are but they are not where they start their search.
SEO is about serving consumers needs, helping them solve a problem.
