The one question I get asked the most? 

‘Mary-Anne, how do I increase my engagement on social media platforms?’. 

Engagement is something that all brands and businesses strive for, so how do you increase your engagement on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube and beyond?

Let me tell you...

It’s more simple than you think.

One of the easiest ways to increase your engagement is to be on-trend! What do I mean by that? You need to be paying attention and quick to jump on trends and new features that the platform’s release. I’d recommend keeping your eyes and ears really close to the new products that these platforms are developing.

Where can you find this information?

Follow social media marketing experts on the platforms, follow the platform itself, on Instagram for example follow @creators for the most up to date tips and new releases. By staying up to date with the latest developments of social media sites and new features you’ll be able to quickly jump on a trend and get noticed! 

The Hottest competition right now? Reels vs TikTok 

Let’s take Instagram for instance, if you’ve focused all of your efforts at the moment creating Instagram reels content, Instagram would really support you for doing that. 

How do they show their support? They would push your content to a wider audience and in return, you will see more views and more engagement!

A huge portion of the algorithm is gearing towards users that post reels at the moment! This is because Reels is their product in competition towards Tiktok, therefore there is a disproportionate amount of weight form the algorithm is going to push that product (reels) to make it a huge success! 

Instagram wants people to try out reels for the first time and realise that the amount of reach, engagement and likes is WAY more than they can currently achieve in the feed! If a style of content that promotes your product or service is a success you are going to keep posting it right? 

That means Instagram gets exactly what they want and their product release has been a success!

What should you do now?

Keep really close to the new products that these platforms are releasing. Learn everything there is to know and get creating! 

From an algorithmic point of view, the platforms will be backing Instagram users who use their new features and pushing their content to a wider audience and giving you the engagement you want and deserve! 

Don’t forget, its not just Instagram that releases new features, Facebook and Twitter often change too!
